SQL Developer Tips & Tricks
You could read the docs, watch the videos, and play around with the tool for a few hours. Or, you could sit back for an hour and watch the product manager show you ALL of "the cool stuff." The goal is to pick up even just a couple of new techniques that will make your job SO much easier as you build those new tables, write that perfect SQL statement, or even just copy a result set out to Excel (yes, we know that's what you do). This is designed to be an interactive and FUN presentation. Heckling is encouraged.

Who Are These People? Analyzing Collaborate Attendee Data with Advanced Analytics
Join me for a case study in which I explain how I used Oracle Advanced Analytics tools to answer questions for the user group boards about the attendees of Collaborate and their experiences. I’ll show the process of first collecting the data and cleaning it to make it usable. Then I’ll show the data mining and machine learning algorithms I used within SQL Developer Data Miner. Lastly, I’ll show R functions that I used for further analysis. In the end, these insights will improve your experience with Collaborate!

Taking ASH Analysis to the Next Level—Plan Change and Parsing Detection/Analysis
Sometimes snapshot time-based (AWR) performance data does not provide the level of detail we need to diagnose performance issues. Usually Oracle Active Session History (ASH) data solves this limitation by providing session-level sample data. However, we can go further by creatively using ASH data to do things that are not possible using standard ASH and time-based analysis. This presentation will demonstrate how to use ASH data to pinpoint SQL plan changes. Also, it will show you how to detect parsing issues before they show up in the wait interface. The presentation includes demonstrations and where to get the free SQL, so you can take your ASH analysis to the next level!

Saving Your Database from Alzheimer's: Analytic Performance Improvements From Oracle 12cR2 Database In-Memory (DBIM)
Oracle Database 12.2.0.1 (12cR2) significantly improves the performance of Database In-Memory (DBIM) features, offering potentially massive improvements in real-time analytic processing and queries. This session takes a deeper look at what the Oracle 12cR2 optimizer is actually doing “under the covers” when it makes its decisions to process a query against IMCS-resident and nonresident tables, including improved In-Memory Joins, leveraging Join Groups, taking advantage of In-Memory Expressions, and utilizing In-Memory Filtering effectively. We’ll look at some real-world performance improvement metrics obtained against an Exadata Express OPC environment that shows how best to tackle using these newest DBIM features.
