The explosive growth in both structured and unstructured data in most organizations is creating new information management challenges. Database replication as an architectural strategy moved into mainstream years ago. No longer is replication a solution only for configuring high availability, offload reporting, and zero downtime migrations—real-time integration with other types of databases on-prem and in the cloud has increasingly become the norm. Oracle databases need to integrate with other databases like SQL Server, Postgres, MySQL, Kafka, and more. This presentation will first cover the fundamentals of replication and then specific implementation considerations for several use cases, including disaster recovery, load isolation, auditing, data warehousing, and zero downtime migration to different platforms.
