Almost every major break in to an Oracle Database has been performed by persons with a valid user ID and password. These are attacks that cannot be prevented by a LDAP, a firewall, or licensing another product. The best Oracle Database security can be obtained by properly configuring the tools you have already licensed from Oracle, but which were not enabled, by default, during installation. This presentation by Oracle ACE Director Alumnus Daniel Morgan will focus on proper configuration of the tools Oracle has been distributing for more than a decade, including live demos in SQL*Plus.
